DAY 1: AMMAN AIRPORT – AMMAN Upon arrival to Amman Queen Alia International Airport our representative will meet you before the passport control at your terminal and take you through the immigration taking care of the visa arrangements and passport checking. Your driver will be waiting for you outside the airport and take you to your hotel in Amman for dinner and overnight.
DAY 2: AMMAN 8-12 AM CLASS, 12:30 PM PICK UP AND HAVE AMMAN CITY TOUR AND DOWNTOWN CITY WALKS Breakfast at the hotel. Arabic class from 8 to 12 am. After class, you will visit the amazing capital of Jordan: Amman, a fascinating city of contrasts – a unique blend of old and new, situated on a hilly area between the desert and the fertile Jordan Valley. In the commercial heart of the city, ultra-modern buildings, hotels, restaurants, art galleries and boutiques rub shoulders comfortably with traditional coffee shops and tiny artisan workshops. Amman’s neighborhoods are diverse and range in cultural and historical context from the hustle and bustle of the downtown markets, to the art galleries of Jabal Al Weibdeh and the modern shopping district of Abdali. You will explore the Downtown part of Amman (Wasat al-Balad) for 2 hours, visiting sites and museums including the Citadel, Roman Theater, Archaeological Museum, the Folklore Museum, King Abdullah Mosque (outside visit), Bazaar & craft shops. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 3: AMMAN 8-12 AM CLASS, FREE TIME
DAY 4: AMMAN 8-12 AM CLASS, 12:30 PM PICK UP AND DRIVE TO JERASH VISIT AND RETURN TO THE HOTEL Breakfast at the hotel. Arabic class from 8 to 12 am. After class, drive north to visit Jerash, an amazing blend of Greco-Roman and Oriental influences. Jerash is on the list of favorite destinations in Jordan is the ancient city of Jerash, which boasts an unbroken chain of human occupation dating back more than 6,500 years. Jerash lies on a plain surrounded by hilly wooded areas and fertile basins. Conquered by General Pompey in 63 BC, it came under Roman rule and was one of the ten great Roman cities of the Decapolis League. You will enter Jerash through the monumental South Gate and find you wandering around in a Roman city. You will walk in the Oval Plaza surrounded by colonnades, visit the Roman theatre and Byzantine churches with mosaic-covered floors. Enjoy a stroll along Jerash’ main road the Cardo and pass by the Nymphaeum. You may experience the marvellous acoustics of the theatre, the stage of the Jerash music festival which takes place every year. And see for yourself how the Romans built the earthquake-proof columns of the colonnaded streets. Drive to the capital city of Jordan Amman. Return to Amman for dinner and overnight.
DAY 5: AMMAN 8-12 AM CLASS – DESERT CASTLES VISIT AND RETURN TO THE HOTEL Breakfast at the hotel. Arabic class from 8 to 12 am. In the afternoon, you will visit the Desert Castles, located in the Eastern Desert of Jordan. The Desert Castles, beautiful examples of both early Islamic art and architecture, stand testament to a fascinating era in the country's rich history. Their fine mosaics, frescoes, stone and stucco carvings and illustrations, inspired by the best in Persian and Graeco-Roman traditions, tell countless stories of the life as it was during the 8th century. Called castles because of their imposing stature, the desert complexes actually served various purposes as caravan stations, agriculture and trade centres, resort pavilions and outposts that helped distant rulers forge ties with local Bedouins. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 6: AMMAN 8-12 AM CLASS - MADABA & MT NEBO VISIT – PETRA BY NIGHT Breakfast at the hotel and then Arabic class from 8 to 12 am. After class, drive to visit Madaba. Madaba is located 30 kilometers south-west of the capital Amman. It is best known for its Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics, especially a large Byzantine-era mosaic map of The Holy Land. Madaba, one of the most spectacular churches around the world; ST. George church where you will find the Mosaic Map of Jerusalem painted on the floor of the church. Proceed to visit Mount Nebo, the place where Moses buried. You will be lucky if the sky is clear enough; you will have a wonderful view up from the mountain seeing the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Jericho in the other bank of the Jordan River. Drive to Petra, check in to your hotel and get ready for Petra by Night experience. Petra Night Show, this event is a magical way to see part of the rock city by candlelight and explore the old city, which has become a world wonder, incomparable experience starts by walking the entire Siq to the Treasury, lit with over 1,500 candles to bring the major attraction due to the spectacular view it has. Petra by Night runs every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week, starts at 20:30 from Petra Visitor Centre and delivers you back by licensed guide to the Visitor Centre around 22.30pm. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 7: PETRA VISIT – WADI RUM Breakfast at the hotel, explore Petra. There is no visit of Jordan will be complete without having seen the capital of the ancient Nabatean kingdom, Petra. The long-lost city of Petra, carved entirely by man into the rose-red sandstone rocks, puts your imagination to the test. It’s a Mystic and glorious place, an eternal tribute to a lost civilization. Petra was the central meeting point of the Nabatean spice routes which originated from the Persian Gulf, Western Arabia and the Red Sea. About two thousand years ago Petra became the capital of the Nabatean Empire. The city was so renowned that one of its kings, Aretas IV, is even mentioned in the Bible. The natural richness of the mountainous area combines in a superb way with the refined culture and massive architecture of the Nabateans, who carved their theatre, temples, façades, tombs, monasteries, houses roads entirely the rose-red sandstone rocks. No wonder UNESCO placed Petra on its World Heritage List one enters Petra by passing the Siq, a deep and narrow gorge, at the end of which all of a sudden dramatically appears the most famous monument in Petra: al-Khazneh or the Treasury. Maybe you will recognize it as the stage of the final sequence of the movie ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’. But the Treasury is just the start. Walking and climbing in Petra hundreds of buildings carved in stone and eroded through the centuries into fabulous multi-colored walls will be revealed to you. Afternoon return your hotel for rest and get ready for Petra by night. Afternoon drive to Wadi Rum, enjoy traditional dinner “zarb” and sleep under the stars!
DAY 8: WADI RUM JEEP TOUR (2 HRS) – DEAD SEA Breakfast at the camp. In Wadi Rum, uniquely shaped massive mountains rise vertically out of the pink desert sand, which separate one dark mass from another in magnificent desert scenery of strange breathtaking beauty, with towering cliffs of weathered stone. The faces of the sheer rock cliffs have been eroded by the wind into faces of men, animals and monsters. In Wadi Rum, or the Valley of the Moon, according to Lawrence of Arabia, you will have the opportunity to experience of the Jeep tour4×4 for 2 hours to explore the most spectacular sites of the area ending with a cup of tea made by Bedouins as a refreshing as a refreshing after your visit. Say bye to the desert and get ready for another spectacular natural wonder, the Dead Sea. The leading attraction at the Dead Sea is the warm, soothing, super salty water itself – some ten times saltier than sea water, and rich in chloride salts of magnesium, sodium, potassium, bromine and several others. The unusually warm, incredibly buoyant and mineral-rich waters have attracted visitors since ancient times, including King Herod the Great and the beautiful Egyptian Queen, Cleopatra. All of whom have luxuriated in the Dead Sea's rich, black, stimulating mud and floated effortlessly on their backs while soaking up the water's healthy minerals along with the gently diffused rays of the Jordanian sun.
